Thank you Albany, I like Andrejs Jansons!  

Very significant project by Latvian musicians, to complete and realize the recording of an unfinished opera by Latvian composer Bruno Skulte (1905-1976), who emigrated to USA and finished his life there. "Heiress of Vilkaci" is written in a romantic style of 19th century traditional, maybe it was the intension of Skulte, to write a Latvian national opera for Latvian folks. We can hear outstanding performances of picked soloists - especially Antra Bigaca (mezzo-soprano) is wonderful. The choir give us Latvian natural voices, as if they sing their folk tunes, and the orchestra should be estimated for the good association with soloists and choir. Conductor Andrejs Jansons is a fine musician who introduces valuable Latvian operatic heritages. We might expect further Latvian opera project - for example, like "Silver Bird" by Lucija Garuta (yet not premiered although conductor's score exists). Anyway their work is admirable and beautiful!
