Elvis Goes Baroque
This album is a delight to play for many reasons. First off it is well done, by an ensemble that is suspect would play Schütz, Buxtehude, Bach and Handel with equal ease and gusto.
Being quite familiar with Elvis' catalogue, it's a right treat to watch the faces of house guests desperately attempting to figure out what they are listening to, as they "groove" around the house. As a good host, I can only leave them guessing for a few minutes.
Once they start to listen for Elvis tunes, well then the "games begin" as some hear other numbers within the passages.
Track Six (You're the Devil in Disguise) has yet to be "guessed" in this game, even though the song is currently being used in a television commercial for an automobile.
The album is an excellent way to introduce the Baroque style to those who normally don't listen to classical music, at least intentionally.
I thoroughly enjoy this album, recommend it heartily, and freely admit that I "play it loud" in the car while travelling.
