The "grandeur" of the Romantic Era
If you like Bruckner, Wagner and Richard Strauss, you will enjoy this album. Wetz basic symphonic structure comes from Bruckner while his orchestral palette is as rich as Strauss's. The second symphony has all the "grandeur" and splendor of the late German Romantic Era and the Kleist Overture is a very potent work also. Wetz is a skillful symphonist and his music is meaningful. To my knowledge this is the only recording of the second symphony and it is a very recommendable one. Werner Andras Albert loves this music and the orchestra shares his enthusiasm. It is also well recorded. You can also find, on ClassicsOnline, Wetz Symphony no.1 and no.3, each of which are also well recorded along with Wetz violin concerto. Enjoy.more....
