Re-release of two rare LPs from Swedish supergroup  

A rare recording and a treat to find online. This CD release combines two LPs from the 70's by the Swedish group Rena Rama: Lennart Åberg, sax; Bobo Stenson, piano; Palle Danielsson, bass; Bengt Berger, drums; Leroy Lowe, drums (last five tracks). The first six tracks are taken from their debut recording, a prize for having won the Jazz i Sverige (Jazz in Sweden) competition in 1973. The final five tracks are from their 1979 release Inside - Outside. Both albums find the group engaging not only with contemporaneous post-bop styles, but also with musical idioms from Africa, India and the Middle East. Very interesting and appealing music.
