LA RUE: Chansons from the Album of Margaret of Austria  

Having previously purchased an album of music from various composers from the songbook of Margaret of Austria, I was impressed that an album devoted to one composer could hold the attention so easily and provide a great deal of pleasure. The singing is engaging throughout, and the voices work well together. The instrumentation never intrudes, but rather adds to the experience uniformly. I have other albums of music by La Rue, but of a more formal nature and in a religious context, so it was also very interesting to discover a new dimension to his work.
