Hungarian Anthems
Two of the most important Hungarian poems set to music are featured in this rare release. Featuring Erkel's and Kolcsey's Himnusz, "Isten, áldd meg a magyart" (God Bless the Hungarians), plus Egressy's and Vorosmarty's Szozat, "Hazádnak rendületlenül légy híve, óh magyar" (To your homeland be faithful steadfastly, O Hungarian), this Hungaraton album is a valuable source for avid collectors of the repertoire. Both sung in official ceremonies, the first is Hungary's national anthem, normally performed at the beginning of each ceremony, while the latter, which is secondary in importance, is usually sung at the end. What makes this recording unique and important are the songs' various interpretations - namely, orchestral, choral and oral recitation, as performed by Hungarian local artists. The album also includes Liszt's version of Szozat (S353/R448).
