A new edition in our series of music used in recent films. One would have to admit that the industry is a pretty unimaginative lot, the music contained on this disc as predictable as the day is long.
But don't let us miss the point that the disc makes most enjoyable listening on its own account. Opening with the Polonaise from Dvorak's opera Rusalka used in The People Vs Larry Flynt, we move to Winter from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons (Tin Cup), and the opening movement of Rachmaninov's Third Piano Concerto for the award winning Shine - the story of the pianist David Helfgott.
And it is on that film that this disc should be heavily marketed, as it is a cult movie and will greatly appeal to the cross-over market.
And for film buffs The English Patient which swept the Oscar's for 1997, winning the award for the Best Film, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, etc.. But as the American said, "it might be a British triumph, but it was made with American money".
