A hidden treasure
I downloaded this work after listening to the 30-second previews, and it is surely a hidden treasure among most of the current classical music one 'endures' (though there are honourable exceptions - Part or Rutter anyone?). What is striking about this recording is the sheer accessibility of the music, in many respects resembling a sort of classical chill-out. Particular highlights for me were the Dark Night of the Soul, which sounds anything but Dark, and Pulchra es amica mea, which grabs the attention with haunting hooks, almost like a pop song. The performances and sound quality are first-rate. More please.more....

Deeply calming music
This album is such a wonderful discovery for me. The music is deeply soothing and serene - truly a balm for the world-weary soul. In my experience, modern choral music can sometimes be a bit 'challenging' to listen to, and sometimes takes many listens before I can appreciate the nuances and gems hidden in the sometimes obscure and complex harmonies and structures of the works. But the works presented here are accessible and, quite simply, very lovely at first listen. I have yet to choose a favourite (or favourites!), but I especially love Serenity O magnum mysterium, Northern Lights Pulchra es amica mea and Phoenix Agnus Dei.more....
