…I find it the most enjoyable and attractive classical Christmas album to have come our way this season.
Of the two works, the main interest here is the
Stella Natalis, which like many of Jenkins’ works, makes use of a wide variety of materials…The idea is to support the theme of “the star of origin” with a message of peace, goodwill and compassion for all the peoples of the world.
Joy to the World is a nine-movement choral and orchestral work collecting carols from around the world. The Marylebone Camerata is a group of young London musicians led by cellist Jonathan Byers. Altogether a wonderful addition to recorded holiday season albums! © 2012
