Fasch - A Baroque Gem
If you would like a change from Bach, Handel, Telemann or Vivaldi, then J. F. Fasch (1688-1758) may be just for you. This disc contains six of Fasch's concertos (he composed about 70) and they show Fasch to be a most competent and enjoyable composer. The concertos can be divided into three pairs: there is the Joie de vivre of the trumpet concertos, the refinement of the Concerto for two flutes and the Concerto for two oboes da silva (another name for the oboe da caccia, a late Baroque instrument sounding like a cor anglais), violas and bassoons and the perkiness of the flute and oboe concerto and the bassoon concerto. The playing by Il Gardellino is excellent. A disc to put on and just let the music play.more....
