The tenor for excellence Nicolai Gedda
The tenor Nicolai Gedda (to a Swedish mother and Russian father) was formed and made his debut in his native Stockholm to its 26 years. Only 3 years later, he started her international career at La Scala in Milan and then at the most important theaters in the world. Gedda was "a tenor by excellence" (as indicated by the CD cover) -- a singer of an innate musicality and an exceptional fineness in its singing line. He has attributes that allowed him to give a wide repertoire that extended from Mozart to contemporary composers such as Barber or Liebermann, including the most major titles of the French repertoire, of which there are several testimonies in this recording. As well such conditions, Gedda had a surprising knowledge of several languages (Swedish, Russian, German, French, Italian and English). The record label Regis has filled a great empty to make known to the lovers of the opera of the current generation a tenor, perhaps ignored by these. The mastering of these recordings taken in the 1950'S is excellent and it is therefore an indispensable disc to the colleCtion of the most demanding lovers of the genre.more....
