"Guiding Light" by Chris Conway=Electronic "Ether"!
As a choir director, by necessity, much of my music listening is work: individually and collectively teaching voices and instruments to achieve a desired sound that requires preparation, practice, and focus (that is, work!).
Training and decades of work in this field means I automatically hear music actively; I can't help but listen with a musician's critical ear, focusing on the music itself (its construction, instrumentation, form, etc.). One of my favorite ways to de-stress is massage; unfortunately, in my experience, most massage therapists use recorded music that is distracting to my completely relaxing mood, since I automatically focus on the music, rather than on relaxing my body.
What joy to discover this recording... Chris Conway's hour plus of blissfully formless tonality magically silences my critical ear and launches it floating into space! The album works like "electronic ether" to "anesthesize" stress, so I can totally relax. Thank you, Chris Conway--Guiding Light is awesome!
Note: Other albums that work for me include 15 Minutes of Peace by Jacob Gurevitsch and Poaul Reimann; Ultimate Natural Sounds: Inspiring Thunderstorm (by God!) from Paradise Music; and Chakra Gold by Aetherium. Peace!
