Delightful!
This album is delightful, and the music is great fun. Many albums of Renaissance Music suffer from too much uniformity: similar music, OK, but not if the instrumentation is homogenous. Though I am an enthusiast, I find the sameness a bit tiresome. This album has none of this, though. There is a great variety of instrumentation throughout, with the combinations of instruments thoughtfully appropriate to the music. The album also combines the familiar (Praetorius) with composers less known to me, but every bit as enjoyable. Lastly, the performances are musical, spirited and satisfyingly expert.more....
