Kristoffer Nyholm Hyldig was born in 1982 in Denmark. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music with Tove Lønskov and as a soloist with Steinway artist Niklas Sivelöv. He has already been very active in Danish music life for several years as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist, and has played with several of the Danish orchestras, conducted by Jean Thorel among others, won several prizes, most recently the special prize of the Jury in the EU piano competition 2009 in Prague, and received major Danish grants. Beside this he has recorded sound-tracks, and appeared on screen for Zentropa Films. Apart from his current teacher he has also been taught by Amalie Malling and Zara Piruman in Denmark as well as Pnina Salzman, Volker Banfield, Pierre Réach, Bengt Forsberg, Malcolm Martineau, Rudolf Jansen, Anne Sofie von Otter and the piano duo Taal/Groethuysen. He has performed several of Messian’s pieces here, among his major piano compositions, Vingt Regards sur L’Enfant-Jésus and Oiseaux Exotiques.
