Ying Lai Green (b1980)

Born in Cambridge, Ying Lai studied double bass at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Duncan McTier. She won several prizes and distinctions and graduated with the highest honours. Upon receiving a star award from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, she furthered her studies in Germany before being appointed a member of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra in 2003. She has since worked with a variety of distinguished symphony and chamber orchestras. Ying Lai Green has given recitals throughout Europe and is in much demand as a chamber musician. As a soloist she has performed Bottesini’s B minor Concerto in the Netherlands, the Dittersdorf Concerto in Britain and Bottesini’s Grand Duo Concertante in Germany. In 2009 she was honoured with an Associateship from the Royal Academy of Music. She currently lives in Amsterdam and is assistant principal double bass with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
