Update me on new releases by Chen

Xi Chen

In 2002 the seventeen-year-old Chinese violinist Chen Xi was awarded the Silver Prize (with no Gold Prize awarded) at the Twelfth International Tchaikovsky Violin Competition in Moscow, the youngest top prizewinner in the history of the competition. Chen Xi was born in Shenyang and at the age of eight made his début performance at the Shenyang Conservatory. In 1995 he entered the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. After his triumph in the Tchaikovsky Competition, he joined the Curtis Institute of Music as a pupil of Joseph Silverstein, and graduated in 2007. His other teachers have included Lin Yaoji, Wang Guan, Zhao Wei and Sui Keqiang. His awards include victory in the Eighth Lipinski-Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poland in 2000 and the Ninth National Youth Violin Competition of China in 2001. His career has brought concerts throughout the world, and he now continues his studies with Hyo Kang at Yale University. Chen Xi plays a Guarnerius del Gesù violin “ex-Moeller”, Cremona, 1725, on loan through the generosity of the Samsung Foundation of Culture of Korea and the Stradivari Society of Chicago.
