The English baritone William Dazeley was born in 1966 and is a graduate of Jesus College, Cambridge. He studied singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he won several prizes including the prestigious Gold Medal. He won the 1989 Decca - Kathleen Ferrier Prize, the 1990 Royal Overseas League Singing Competition, the 1991 Richard Tauber Prize and the 1991 Walther Gruner International Lieder Competition. One of the leading baritones of his generation, he has appeared with many of the world’s important opera houses, including the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Glyndebourne Festival, Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Théâtre du Châtelet, Opera North, Scottish Opera, Welsh National Opera, Théâtre de la Monnaie, Aix-en-Provence Festival, Salzburg Festival, San Francisco Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, among others. Concert appearances have included appearances with the Royal Flanders Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Monteverdi Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Berlin Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony and London Symphony Orchestras.
