Vladimir Feltsman (b1952)

Feltsman came from a musical background; his father was a composer of popular music and his mother gave Vladimir his first lessons at the piano. At seven Feltsman joined the Moscow Central Music School, becoming a pupil of Evgeny Timakhin who had been a pupil of Konstantin Igumnov. Before entering the Moscow Conservatory he had played concertos in public with the Moscow Philharmonic and Bolshoi Theatre Orchestras and won first prize at the Concertina International Competition in Prague. At the Moscow Conservatory he studied with Yakov Flier.
