Timur Bekbosunov

Timur Bekbosunov was born in 1983 in Kazakhstan. He graduated from the New England Conservatory and California Institute of Arts, winning a reputation as an interpreter of contemporary and intercultural music, particularly in the United States, where he appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera Boston, Bang on a Can, and the American Repertory Theatre and Long Beach Opera. He has collaborated with various composers, including Thomas Adès, Peter Eötvös, Evan Ziporyn, Anne LeBaron, Tobias Picker, Sylvano Bussotti and Sofi a Gubaidulina. In addition to his involvement in contemporary music he appears regularly with his Indie Glam Band The Dime Museum. As founder of the organization The Art of Opera he created the multimedia-production DO SCREAM based on Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. In 2012 he appeared with the pianist Vicky Chow in a series of first performances of songs by, among others, Luca Lombardi, Sylvano Bussotti, and Edison Denisov.
