Update me on new releases by Reiner

Thomas Reiner (b1969)

Thomas Reiner was born in Ludwigsburg in 1969. When he was twelve he heard the French virtuoso Maurice André perform and resolved then and there to learn to play the trumpet. Two of his most influential teachers at the Universities of Music in Würzburg, Leipzig, and Weimar were professors Helmut Erb and Uwe Komischke.

Thomas Reiner is presently active throughout Europe as a soloist, conductor and teacher. He is also a founder member of the brass quintet Atlantis Brass, is highly in demand for oratorio performances, and concertizes frequently with his duo partner, the organist Frank Oidtmann. His brilliant and yet light tone in the high register predestines him for performances of J. S. Bach’s redoutable Brandenburg Concerto No. 2, as well as the works on the present recording. “Reiner plays with excellent facility and a clear, expressive tone quality. His lightness in the upper register is reminiscent of the finest soloists on the natural trumpet while retaining the brilliance of the modern instrument.” (Lee Weimer in the Journal of the International Trumpet Guild, January 2004.)
