The coloratura soprano Sylvia Koke studied singing with Liselotte Hammes at the Cologne Musikhochschule, completing her training there with distinction in the summer of 2000. At the same time she completed German, English, and Music Studies at the University of Cologne. She gives Lieder recitals and concerts with a repertoire ranging from earlier music to the contemporary. Her operatic rôles include Frau Fluth in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, and Calisto in Cavalli’s opera. In 1999 she appeared as Venus in Domenico Mazzocchi’s La catena d’Adone at the Flemish Opera in Antwerp and at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music. Since 2000 she has been a member of the Aalto Music Theatre in Essen and has appeared as the Queen of the Night at Theatre Aachen.
