Sun Hee You (b1982)

Born in Seoul, Sun Hee You started playing the piano at the age of four, to be admitted to Yewon School, the most prestigious Korean Music School when she was eleven. At thirteen she had her début as soloist with the Yangeum Orchestra in Seoul with Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2. After moving to Italy and studying intensely with Fausto di Cesare, she was awarded her diploma with top grades in 2002 at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. She furthered her studies at the Musical Academy in Florence under the guidance of Lazar Berman and Valentina Berman, and at the Santa Cecilia National Academy in chamber music with Rocco Filippini. She also attended master-classes with Bruno Canino, Boris Petrushansky, Oxana Yablonskaya, Lazar Berman and Paul Badura-Skoda. Since 1993 she has been performing in important locations, including the Auditorium di Via della Conciliazione, Blumensthil Palace, the Polish Institute (Rome), Austrian Forum (Rome), Sejong Culture Hall (Seoul), the Pirandello Theatre (Agrigento), and the Santa Cecilia Hall of the Auditorium (Rome). She has also won numerous national and international competitions, and in 2008 was awarded the first prize at the international Vanna Spadafora Competition in Rome.
