Stephen Shipps


The violinist Stephen B. Shipps began his career as a member of the Cleveland Orchestra, associate concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and concertmaster of the Dallas Opera and Omaha Symphonies. As a chamber musician, he was a member of the Amadeus and Meadowmount Piano Trios. He studied with Josef Gingold at Indiana University, with Ivan Galamian and Sally Thomas at the Meadowmount School and with Franco Gulli at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. He serves as Professor of Violin at the University of Michigan and is artistic director of the Cambridge International String Academy.
