Update me on new releases by Magill

Sam Magill

Cellist Samuel Magill has had a rich and varied career as soloist, chamber player and orchestral musician. He has been a soloist with orchestra in Tokyo’s Suntory Hall and New York’s Alice Tully Hall. A champion of overlooked romantic and early twentieth-century repertoire, he has made world première recordings of Vernon Duke’s Cello Concerto and Franco Alfano’s 1925 Cello Sonata, both on the Naxos label. He has collaborated with pianists including Pascal Rogé, Oxana Yablonskaya, Grant Johannesen and Linda Hall, and is a regular participant in the New York Chamber Music Festival at Symphony Space in New York City. Samuel Magill is currently a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and was also a member of both the Pittsburgh and Houston Symphony Orchestras. He studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts and The Peabody Institute. His cello teachers were Zara Nelsova, Lawrence Lesser and Irving Klein.
