Roderick Chadwick has been hailed by the Sunday Times as a “possessor of devastating musicality and technique”. His performing activities have ranged in recent years from live performances in BBC Radio 3’s Beethoven Experience and Spirit of Schubert seasons to world premières of works by Michael Finnissy with the Kreutzer Quartet. In March 2012 he gave what may be an unprecendented performance of Messiaen’s complete Catalogue d’Oiseaux and La Fauvette des jardins in a single evening in London. In 2007 he was appointed artistic advisor to the Royal Academy of Music for its prominent rôle in the London Southbank Centre’s Messiaen Centenary Festival. He is a devotee of contemporary repertoire, and has worked closely with composers Newton Armstrong, Nicola Campogrande, Philip Cashian, Gloria Coates, Laurence Crane, David Gorton, Alex Hills and Matthew Shlomowitz amongst others. Roderick Chadwick is a member of the ensembles CHROMA and Plus-Minus, and has recorded for the Guild, Métier, Naxos and Victor (Japan) labels. He lives in London and teaches at the Royal Academy of Music.
