Robynne Redmon

The American mezzo-soprano Robynne Redmon has won international acclaim for her glorious singing, intense acting, excellent phrasing, ardent tone, splendid shading, solid coloratura and extraordinary artistic sense. She has performed leading rôles with the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Bavarian State Opera, Dallas Opera, San Francisco Opera and Berlin State Opera. Her orchestral appearances have included performances with the Cincinnati May Festival, the Casals Festival, the Montreal Symphony and the Israel Philharmonic. She has worked with such esteemed conductors as Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev, Christian Thielemann, Charles Dutoit and James Conlon. Her breakthrough came with Lyric Opera of Chicago in 1997, when she portrayed Adalgisa in a new production of Norma to great critical and popular acclaim. She has since returned there for Fenena in Nabucco and Laura in La Gioconda. She made her début at the Metropolitan Opera in 1996 as Maddalena in Rigoletto, and was invited back the following season to sing Marina in Boris Godunov. Other major débuts followed: Fenena in Munich in 1998; La Haine in Gluck’s Armide at Milan’s Teatro alla Scala in 1999, and Adalgisa in Norma at both Opéra de Marseille and the Berlin State Opera in 2000.
