Then he took a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance in 1989. After studies abroad Per Salo competed for admission to the Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, where he was engaged to play piano, organ and harpsichord. He has given concerts both as a soloist and as a chamber musician in Scandinavia, Italy, Spain, Greece, Poland and the USA. As a soloist Per Salo has recorded CDs of music by Chades Ives (Concorde Sonata), Niels Viggo Bentzon (Piano Works) and Per Nørgård (Piano Works), all for the Kontrapunkt label. In 1997 Chandos released Per Salo’s recording of Per Nørgård’s piano concerto Concerto in Due Tempi, which he premiered with the Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra when the composer was awarded the Léonie Sonning Music Prize in 1996.
