Niels Ullner was born in 1956. He studied with Professor Asger Lund Christiansen and Pierre Fournier, and subsequently with William Pleeth and Mstislav Rostropovich. He gave his debut in 1981 at the Odd Fellow Palace in Copenhagen and was a member of the Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1977 to 1985, after which he was appointed principal cellist of the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. Niels Ullner has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician all over Europe as well as in Japan and Cuba, and has been a member of several chamber ensembles including The Danish Quartet, Trio Scandinavia, Musica Danica, and not least Duo Francesca together with pianist Anne Øland.
