Michael Kranebitter was born in 1982 in Innsbruck, became a Wilten chorister in 1989 and appeared at the Tirol Landestheater as the Fox-Cub and Cricket in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen and as Friedrich in The Sound of Music. In 1998 he was a prize-winner in Prima La Musica and began his vocal training in 1999 at the Tirol Conservatory, continuing from 2002 at the Munich Hochschule für Musik und Theater, completing his studies in 2007. He appeared at the Tirol Landestheater as a knight in Aribert Reimann’s King Lear, in Bernstein’s Candide, and as the Manager in Hindemith’s Neues vom Tage. Appearances in Munich include Starveling in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Pisone in Steffani’s Alarico, followed by Sigibert in Fredegunda and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte at the Prinzregententheater. He sang Plato in Telemann’s Der geduldige Sokrates under René Jacobs in Innsbruck and at the Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
