Mary Ann Mumm made her solo début with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra at the age of fifteen, as the first prize recipient of the MSO Young Artists Competition. She continued undergraduate studies at Indiana University with Josef Gingold, earning a BM, and also served as his graduate teaching assistant. Her past positions include Assistant Professor of Violin at Northwestern University and violinist in the MET Orchestra. Her chamber music engagements are numerous, performing with some of the world’s finest orchestral, chamber and solo musicians. Mary Ann Mumm serves on the faculties of the John J. Cali School of Music-Montclair State University, Youth Orchestra of the Americas and is Chairman of Strings - Filharmonica Joven de Colombia. She maintains a busy schedule of master-classes at major music institutions and festivals throughout North and South America. During her tenure as 2006–08 President of the American String Teachers Association - New Jersey Chapter, the state was recognized for its excellence with five national awards.
