Julija Samsonova


Julija Samsonova was born in Lithuania, where she studied choral conducting, piano and singing, before moving to the Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro and studying at the Osimo Accademia d’Arte Lirica in Florence and elsewhere. Her various triumphs include the Concorso As.Li.Co at Como in 2005, the Rome Concorso di Musica Sacra in 2006, the 2007 Viñas Competition in Barcelona, the Venice Concorso Segattini in 2007, the special prize at the 2007 Concorso Renata Tebaldi at San Marino in 2007, in 2009 first prize, audience prize and critics’ prize at the Concorso Città di Bologna and further awards at Trapani and Nancy. She has studied with leading teachers and collaborated with distinguished conductors in a career that has taken her to major opera-houses and festivals, with a repertoire that includes principal rôles in operas of Puccini, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Donizetti and Rossini.
