Jose Antonio Lopez


The baritone José Antonio López was born in 1973 and studied at the Valencia Conservatorio Superior de Música under Ana Luisa Chova, completing his studies with the highest distinction. He has appeared in recital, oratorio and opera, collaborating with leading orchestras, choruses and conductors throughout Spain and in Portugal. Oratorio is an important part of his repertoire, while in opera he has appeared as Death in Viktor Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis, Hannibal in Kurt Weill’s Happy End and the Father in Seven Deadly Sins by the same composer. He has also appeared as Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, and the Count in Le nozze di Figaro. Other recent performances include participation in El Pesebre by Pablo Casals, Manuel de Falla’s El retablo de Maese Pedro and a production by Els Comediants of La Verbena de La Paloma for the Granada International Festival.
