Jack Liebeck (b1980)

Born in 1980 in London, Jack Liebeck began playing the violin at the age of eight. From 1989 to 1999 he attended the Purcell School of Music and then the Royal Academy of Music. Since making his concerto début with the Hallé Orchestra, he has performed with many orchestras of international repute in Britain and abroad, collaborating with conductors of distinction. He is a committed chamber musician and in 2002 made his acclaimed London recital début to a sold-out Wigmore Hall. He has appeared at many major festivals, including Bath, Cheltenham, Harrogate, Kuhmo, Montpellier, Montreux, Rheims, Spoleto and the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. He is also the leader of the Fibonacci Sequence chamber ensemble and Artistic Director of Oxford May Music Festival that had its highly successful inaugural year in 2008. His first recording on the new Quartz label with pianist Katya Apekisheva was released in July 2004 to critical acclaim, declared CD of the Week in The Daily Telegraph and Strad Selection in the Strad Magazine, and given a Classical Brit Award nomination. Jack Liebeck plays the ‘Ex- Wilhelmj’ J.B. Guadagnini violin, dated 1785.
