Henriikka Grondahl (b1973)

Finnish born soprano Henriikka Gröndahl graduated with distinction from the opera Course of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2003. She made her début as Mimì in La bohème for Scottish Opera. She frequently performs in concerts both in Sweden and around Europe, in a repertoire ranging from Pergolesi to Berio. Her rôles in Scotland included Nella (Gianni Schicchi), Massenet’s Manon, the Princess (L’Enfant et les sortilèges), Handel’s Alcina and Ilia in Mozart’s Idomeneo. She sang Papagena (covering Pamina) for Glyndebourne Touring Opera and made her home début in Stockholm, singing the Princess again in 2005. Thereafter she has sung Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) at the Sage, Gateshead, under Thomas Allen, and Donna Elvira for Scottish Opera. Other engagements include Nanetta (Falstaff) at the Gothenburg Opera House, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) before a capacity audience during Gothenburg’s hosting of the European Championship of Athletics, Fünfte Magda (Elektra) at Barcelona’s Liceu and a return to the Gothenburg Opera in 2008 for Musetta (La bohème).
