Friederike Roth (b1982)

Friederike Roth, born in Bernkastel-Kues in Germany, won numerous prizes for clarinet from an early age, including the first prize of the national competition Jugend musiziert and was a member of the National Youth Orchestra. After finishing her studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne with Ralph Manno, she successfully completed her Concert Performance Examination with highest distinction at Berlin’s Universität der Künste with François Benda. She also found inspiration in masterclasses with Karl Leister, Karl-Heinz Steffens, and Eduard Brunner, and the Master’s programme of chamber music of the Hochschule für Musik »Hanns Eisler« in Berlin. She was awarded the special prize of the Wiesbaden Mozart Gesellschaft’s clarinet competition and received the prize for best interpretation at the Alice Samter Chamber Music Competition with her Clarinetquartett “Blattgold”. As soloist she has played the concertos of Mozart, Weber and Stamitz with orchestras in Germany, France, Italy and the United States. Since 2006 she has lived in Berlin, where she works as lecturer for clarinet at the Universität der Künste.
