As a soloist the bass-baritone Douglas Williams has sung Bach cantatas under Helmuth Rilling, Bruno Weil and Steven Fox, Mozart Vespers with Sir David Wilcocks, Haydn with Sir Neville Marriner, Mahler with Manfred Schreier, and numerous concerts and operas led by Paul O’Dette and Stephen Stubbs. In 2010 he made his European solo début with Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques in Purcell’s King Arthur at Cité de la Musique, Paris. He studied at the New England Conservatory, Yale School of Music, and Yale Institute of Sacred Music, and trained as an actor with Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts.
