Update me on new releases by Ziegler

Delores Ziegler (b1951)

American mezzo-soprano Delores Ziegler’s career has taken her to every major theatre in the world, collaborating with the great directors and conductors of our time. With a repertoire that extends from bel canto to verismo, she has appeared in the world’s greatest opera houses including the Vienna Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, the Bastille in Paris, the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, Cologne, Bonn, and Hamburg, and at the Salzburg, Glyndebourne, Florence May and Athens Festivals. An acclaimed interpreter of bel canto mezzo rôles, she was the first to sing Romeo in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi at the Bolshoy in Moscow, at the San Francisco Opera and in Japan. In another milestone, she is the most recorded Dorabella (Così fan tutte) in operatic history, on two audio recordings, one with Bernard Haitink on EMI and the other on Teldec with Nikolaus Harnoncourt, in a video of the La Scala production with Riccardo Muti, and in a film directed by Jean-Pierre Ponnelle. She is currently Chair of the Voice/Opera Division of the School of Music at the University of Maryland.
