Daniela Sindram


The mezzo-soprano Daniela Sindram was born in Nuremberg and studied in Berlin and in Hamburg with Ute Niss and Judith Beckmann, continuing in masterclasses with Brigitte Fassbaender, Anna Reynolds, Christa Ludwig, Lieselotte Hammes and Aribert Reimann. As a student she held several scholarships, in 1998 receiving the scholarship of the Richard Strauss Association and in 2001, in recognition of her artistic achievement, the Kurt Hübner Prize. In 2006 she was awarded the Festival Prize of the Bavarian State Opera and the prize for performance of the Bavarian State Ministry. Her first engagement was in 1996 at the Bremen Theatre, where she sang much of the operatic repertoire from Gluck and Mozart to Richard Strauss and Wagner over the course of five years, with rôles including Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Idamante in Idomeneo, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice and Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier. In 2001 she was engaged by the Mannheim National Theatre, where she sang Mozart, and Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen. In 2002 she made her first guest appearance at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and her début at Bayreuth as Siegrune and Wellgunde. Since the 2003–2004 season she has been a member of the Bavarian State Opera, with rôles that have included Annio in La clemenza di Tito, Sesto in Cesare, Ottavia in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Hänsel, Dorabella and Octavian.
