Bertrand Piétu, a soloist and member of Fug’Arte Duo, won first prize at the XXIII Andrés Segovia International Competition and at the VII Villa de Sahagún Competition. He also won third prize at the VIII Alhambra International Competition in Valencia and at the VII Julián Arcas International Competition of Almería. He was born in Ris-Orangis (France), where he began studying the guitar at the age of eleven. At thirteen he entered the Paris Alfred Cortot Ecole Normale de Musique, studying with François Martin. After a gold medal at the Lyon Ecole Nationale de Villeurbanne, he obtained the Implementation and Training Diploma and Higher Implementation Diploma at the Paris Ecole Normale Musique. He has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Spanish City of León Odón Alonso Symphony Orchestra, the European Mediterranean Orchestra, City of Almería Chamber Orchestra and the Iberian Chamber Orchestra. He has given recitals in Spain and France.
