Benjamin Ramirez, the Acting Principal Timpanist of the National Symphony Orchestra for the 2007-2008 season, was from 1998 Principal Timpanist of the Columbus (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with numerous orchestras as a guest, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra as well as the symphonies of San Francisco, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, and Indianapolis. Benjamin Ramirez currently teaches at the University of Maryland. He has also taught at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and Capital University. He holds degrees from the Juilliard School, Indiana University, and the Curtis Institute of Music.
