Babette Dorn was born in Brunswick and divides her time between Italy and Germany. She studied with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Renate Kretschmar-Fischer and Franco Gei and was a laureate of the International Schubert Piano Competition in Dortmund in 1991. She performs as a soloist, chamber musician and Lieder pianist, appearing in festivals including the Moselfestwochen, Schwetzinger Festspiele, Mai Musical dʼAÿ (France), Ravello (Italy), Siberia-Europe (Russia) and Frutillar (Chile), and in concert halls such as the Konzerthaus Berlin and Bruchsal Palace. She has taught in Germany, Italy, Russia and in the United States. Many of her concerts have been broadcast. Her première recording of the piano works of Ilse Fromm-Michaels (Tacet 1999) was highly acclaimed by the press and followed by a series of musicological papers, radio broadcasts, interviews and lecture-concerts. She has made three recordings with piano compositions on Mozartʼs Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro (Genuin, 2006) and The Magic Flute (Genuin, 2010). Babette Dorn is co-author of the Heine Liederbuch (Hoffmann & Campe, 2005).
