Ana Quintans

After graduating in sculpture in 1998, the Portuguese soprano Ana Quintans pursued her vocal studies at the Conservatory of Lisbon and later at the Flanders Opera Studio in Ghent with a scholarship from the Gulbenkian Fondation. Particularly devoted to baroque repertoire, she works with conductors including William Christie, Michel Corboz, Vincent Dumestre, Enrico Onofri, Antonio Florio, Alan Curtis, Marcos Magalhães and Marc Minkowski. Her recordings include Fauré’s Requiem with Sinfonia Varsovia and Michel Corboz; Charpentier’s Judicium Salomonis with Les Arts Florissants and William Christie; Kleine Musik by Schutz and Moody with the Ensemble Sete Lágrimas; Victor Macedo Pinto songs; Sementes do fado and La Spinalba by Almeida with Os Músicos do Tejo (Naxos 8.660319–21). On DVD she appeared as Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (Christie/Pizzi/Teatro Real de Madrid) and as a Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Christie/Warner/Opéra Comique, Paris).
