Allan Sternfield was born in the United States and studied at the Peabody Conservatory of Music with Walter Hautzig. In addition he later coached with Leon Fleisher and Wilhelm Kempff. He has appeared in concerts in the United States, Europe, Israel, South America and the Far East to critical acclaim. He has participated in the Israel Festival, as well as in international music festivals in Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Russia, Latvia, Argentina and Uzbekistan.
Allan Sternfield twice received the Prize for Outstanding Performances of Israeli Music, awarded by the Israeli Ministry of Education and Culture, for his interpretations of Josef Tal’s Essay 1 and Aaaron Harlap’s Echoes of Childhood. He has been on the faculty of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance since 1976 and currently serves as Chairman of the Keyboard Department.
