Francis Cutting (fl.1583-c.1603)
Francis Cutting remains the most obscure figure among the great Elizabethan lutenist composers. It has been suggested that the lack of biographical information may be attributed to the privacy that he, conjecturally, may have enjoyed as a gentleman of private means. A number of his compositions survive, generally for six or seven course lute, in the form of dances.
