Massimiliano Damerini


Massimiliano Damerini, a native of Genoa, completed his musical studies there with Alfredo They and Martha Del Vecchio, graduating in piano and composition. Regarded as one of the leading interpreters of his generation, he has played in some of the most important theatres and concert halls in the world, including the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Barbican in London, La Scala, Milan, the Buenos Aires Teatro Colòn, the Herkules Saal of Monaco, Paris Salle Gaveau, Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Zurich Tonhalle, and the Madrid Auditorio Nacional, collaborating as soloist with orchestras including the London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Bavarian Radio, Budapest Symphony, Netherlands Radio, WDR of Cologne, Hamburg NDR, Baden-Baden SWF, the Orchestre Philharmonique Suisse, Accademia di S. Cecilia in Rome, RAI, Orquesta Nacional Española, and the Orquesta Sinfonica Portuguesa. He has taken part in international festivals, including the Florence Maggio Musicale, Venice Biennale, Berlin Festwochen, Holland Festival, Vienna Modern, Donaueschingen, Zagreb Biennale, Paris Festival d’Automne, Festival Paìz of Antigua (Guatemala), and the Japanese Takefu Music Festival. He has recorded for various European and American broadcasting and television stations and has recorded for major record companies. He has served on juries for important international piano competitions, given master-classes throughout Europe and in 1992 was awarded the Italian critics’ Premio Abbiati as performer of the year.
