Hagai Shaham (b1966)

The Israeli violinist Hagai Shaham won the First Prize at the 1990 Munich ARD competition in the violin-piano duo class. His other awards include first prizes at the Ilona Kornhauser competition, Israel Broadcasting Authority competition, Tel Aviv Rubin Academy competition, four Clairmont Awards, and scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. He has appeared as a soloist in Carnegie Hall, the London Barbican Centre, and the Royal Festival Hall, collaborating with leading orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic, English Chamber Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Scottish, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Slovak Philharmonic, SWF Symphony Orchestra, Tonkünstler Orchestra, and the Cannes, Rio, Taipei, Shanghai and Singapore Symphonies. Born in 1966, he studied with the late renowned Ilona Feher, and from 1989 to 1991 with Arnold Steinhart and the Guarneri Quartet at Maryland University. He is a cofounder of the Ilona Feher Foundation, and teaches at the Jerusalem Music Academy. Hagai Shaham’s many recordings include acclaimed releases of music by Hubay.
