Rodolfo Bonucci


The violinist Rodolfo Bonucci completed his studies in violin, conducting and composition, before further study with Salvatore Accardo, Henryk Szering and Arthur Grumiaux, and of conducting with Franco Ferrara. Winner of the twelfth Città di Vittorio Veneto violin competition and of international competitions including the Bach Competition in Leipzig, and the Paganini in Genoa, from the age of seventeen he was appearing with ensembles such as I Virtuosi di Roma and I Musici. He has performed as a soloist in the principal concert venues in Italy, in addition to engagements abroad in Paris, Bonn, Berlin, Geneva, Budapest, Cannes, Zurich, Barcelona, Granada, Vienna and elsewhere. He made his American debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in 1990, returning for further concerts throughout the United States and in South America. His recordings include the world premiere recording of Faure's Violin Concerto and the complete Arte del Violino of Locatelli. In 1995 he founded I Solisti di Bologna, after four years as artistic director of the Bologna Philharmonic concerts. In 2000 he was awarded the honour of Ufficiale della Repubblica by the President of Italy.
