Scott Dunn


Pianist and conductor Scott Dunn made his acclaimed 1999 Carnegie Hall début playing his own orchestration of Vernon Duke’s ‘lost’ Piano Concerto in C. He has held conducting posts with the Music Festival of the Hamptons, Glimmerglass and Pittsburgh Operas and is currently associate conductor of the LA Philharmonic’s Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. A noted interpreter of contemporary music, Dunn has given premières of numerous works by some of the world’s most distinguished composers and has appeared throughout the United States and Europe as recitalist, collaborator and conductor. His previous recordings for Naxos include the Alfano Cello Sonata and Concerto for violin, cello and piano (8.570928), Vernon Duke’s Piano Concerto (8.559286) and the complete piano works of Lukas Foss (8.559179). Dunn’s diverse education also includes an M.D. and board certification in eye surgery, as well as musical studies at USC, the University of Iowa, the Manhattan School of Music, Juilliard and Aspen. His is a former student of Byron Janis.
