Born in Renteria (Gipuzkoa), the mezzo-soprano Ainhoa Soraluze took her degree in voice and double-bass at the Conservatorio Superior of San Sebastian. She began vocal study with the Navarrian tenor Juan Eraso, going on to do advanced work with Giuseppe Valdengo and Franca Mattiucci. She has taken part in numerous concerts and productions both of operatic repertory and of religious and chamber music in Italy, Spain, and France. She has performed leading rôles in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia and L'italiana in Algeri, Donizetti's La favorita, Puccini's Madama Butterfly, and Verdi's Il trovatore. Performances of religious works have included Bach's Mass in B minor, Vivaldi's Gloria, the Stabat Maters of Pergolesi and Rossini, the latter's Petite Messe Solennelle, and Verdi's Requiem. A finalist in various international competitions, she has sung at the theatre of Montecarlo and, under the baton of Daniel Oren, at the Teatro Regio in Turin.
