Lorenzini (Laurenzini) (fl.c.1570-71)
The Italian lutenist Lorenzini is variously known, whether described as Eques Romanus (Roman Knight) or Cavalier du Luth (Knight of the Lute), if the identification may be accepted, although some have presumed the existence of two different players. Lorenzini, in any case, was in the service of Cardinal Ippolito dEste at Tivoli in 1570-71 and later in Ferrara. He left music for solo lute, the number of such pieces increased if he is to be identified with the Roman Knight listed by contemporaries.
